WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY AND THE PROCESS?

The opportunity is on three levels: personal, team and organisation. This values project recognises that for the organisation to transition to ‘values driven’ there needs to be a universal process, involving everyone, and subsequently holding everyone accountable for instilling the resulting values into their behaviour.

The process to define the values at individual, team and organisation level is relatively simple:

  • You will each be asked to take an online Values Audit; this will define your top 5 values.
  • You will each upload your 5 values to a Values Accumulator which will distil the values at team level.
  • The accumulator will take all of the results and produce the top 3 values that emerge for the organisation.

PERSONAL OPPORTUNITY

Employees care about values. Some care a lot and will actually decide who they work for and why based on the value proposition and how an organisation measures up to its professed values.

A 2018 survey by LinkedIn found that values are the number one priority for employees. Just under two thirds (71%) would take a pay cut to work for a company that has shared values and a mission they believe in and 39% would leave their current job if their employer asked them to do something that conflicted with their own morals or ethics. Almost half (47%) want to work in an environment where they can be themselves and have a positive effect on society (46%).

The opportunity for each person is in the first instance to crystallise their own personal values. The link below will take you to an online Values Audit. TEAM OPPORTUNITY

To enable you to contribute to co-creating the values for your team upload your top 5 values to the accumulator, selecting your team/area from the dropdown menu.

Over time as more and more values are uploaded you will be able to see the emerging picture for your team and the wider organisation.

When all of the values are uploaded. You will be able to see the top values for your team and think how they fit with your values and whatever emerges across the organisation.

ORGANISATIONAL OPPORTUNITY

NHS Supply Chain does have a set of existing values; however, these are historic and many within the organisation would have worked elsewhere when these were put in place. This values project creates a real opportunity for NHS Supply Chain to connect everyone in the organisation to their values.
